Champion Of The Week: Dubi Offonry

Why did you choose to study Economics?

I studied it at A-level and was really interested in development economics, so I chose to study it at university to gain a deeper understanding and discover how policies and things like that could feed into making people's day- to-day lives better.

How would you describe Economics?

It's a study of a range of qualities and theories that describe how people respond (in terms of finances) to changes in government policy.

If you had a time machine and could meet your 16-year-old self, what advice would you give him?

I'd probably say, have more confidence in yourself and your own abilities. You'd be surprised by the amount you can do, if you were more confident and put your head to it.

What is your favourite part of Economics?

Development Economics

Is there anything you would do differently if you had the chance?

I might have taken some time out before my first job in order to get more work experience outside of the UK. I think you'd be surprised by the number of different opportunities that could give you different viewpoints of the world, which can be useful before jumping into a career. I love my career. I just think that would have been cool too.

Dubi will be at the BHM x DE event later this month so don't forget to sign-up.
