Young Economist of the Year Competition
sponsored by KPMG UK
Every year, Discover Economics holds the Young Economist of the Year competition. It's a chance for young people in Years 10 - 13 (or equivalent) to consider some fascinating real-world economic problems.
Entries into the competition are encouraged either from individuals or in groups of up to five. Submissions involve a written blog, a presentation, a podcast or a video on one of our five contemporary economic issues. You don't have to have studied economics before - we just want to hear your thoughts about the issues that affect you.
Five finalists are selected from the entries, and are then given the opportunity to present their research in front of a panel of industry experts.
The 2026 competition will open in March, and we hope to hear from you! If you have any questions, please contact abby@res.org.uk, and sign up for our newsletter here to be the first to know all competition-related news.
The 2025 competition culminated in our final at the KPMG offices in Canary Wharf, where our five finalists presented their stellar research and answered questions from our esteemed judges.
